Introduction

This web site serves communication between an industry research fund and scientists seeking support for research on sound and its effects on marine life. The fund’s full title is the E&P Sound and Marine Life Joint Industry Programme (JIP). E&P refers to the sound produced during Exploration and Production activities of the offshore oil and gas industries. JIP programme funds are dispersed as contracts from the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (OGP) in London, which provides administrative and legal services to the JIP and lends their logo to this web site.

Click on the links below for information about the sponsoring companies, the JIP policies, research interests, application procedures and requests for proposals. Please write to info@soundandmarinelife.org for information not found on this web site. Those seeking related research programmes on marine life, general information about acoustics, or regulatory aspects of underwater sound please select “Links to Related Sites”.

The first Annual Report (for the period 2006/2007) is now available for download here (PDF)
